            <p>A web project containing selections from two works by <name
                type="author">Mary S. Claude,</name> <title>Little Poems for Little People,</title> and <title>Twilight Thoughts.</title> <name
                    type="author">Mary Claude</name> was a Victorian author of children's stories and poetry, who was also the presumed subject of <name
                    type="author">Matthew Arnold</name>'s "Marguerite" poems. 
                The texts presented here were carefully transcribed, coded in xml (TEI), and digital facsimiles of the original editions are provided, along with explanatory notes, 
                an introduction to the author, and a primary bibliography. 
                The xml code is posted directly online and can be viewed using the "view source" function of the browser.
                This site was created by Donna Jan Pridmore, as a directed study in the Editorial Institute, Boston University, under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Stauffer, in Spring 2008.
